OPERATING RULES

General Rules

The Library may be used by any person over 16 years old;

Users with special needs must ask for the support of the staff at the reception desk;

The Library staff and the security guard may request the identification of users whenever necessary;

The Library isn’t responsible for forgotten, lost or damaged personal objects and reserves the right to remove from tables and dispose of left, unclaimed items;

Copy items, taking into account the copyright laws and legislation in force;

Group visits must be requested in advance.

It is not allowed to:

Change the furniture layout in the various spaces;

Eat, drink and talk on mobile phone in the reading room, study rooms and search room;

Photographs or any video or audio records in the Library premises without due authorization.

 

Lockers

The lockers are reserved to users of the NMS community;

The key to the lockers must be requested at the Reference Desk and returned at the end of the day;

If the key isn’t returned, until the end of the day, the student may be penalised with the interdiction of using the Library services (use of lockers, study cabinets and loans);

If the key is lost, the student is responsible for the payment of a new key and, if necessary, lock replacement. The same applies if the locker is damaged;

The Library declines responsibility in case of disappearance of personal belongings kept inside each locker.

 

Study Rooms

Reservations can be made up to 8 days in advance, in person or through the form available on the Library's website;

The key to the study room requested by the user responsible for the booking must be picked up at the Reference Desk, in 15 minutes period;

If the key isn’t picked up until the stipulated time, the study room can be made available to the first user who requests it in person at the Reference Desk;

The study rooms are exclusively for continuous study use, and users may not leave the building without handing in the key at the Reference Desk. The penalty for this infraction will be a 15-day ban on office reservations and document loans;

Temporary absence from the study rooms may not exceed a maximum of 15 minutes, subject to penalty;

It is not allowed to exceed the capacity of each cabinet (max. 3 persons);

They must be clean and tidy at the end of each use.

 

Search Room

Use of the PC’s for individual study purposes only, please refer to the Use Terms;

The computers available in the Library's search room must be used individually and only for study and learning purposes. Whenever they’re being used for other purposes, the user will be invited to give up his place to another or to leave the room.

It is not allowed to:

Carry out group work in this space;

Run programs without prior authorisation;

Install new programs on the computer. If necessary, you should contact the Library's IT department (or the Reference Desk);

Leave personal objects to mark their place in this space, the Library reserves the right to remove from the desks goods left improperly;

Use the search room by external users.

 

Reading Room

Use of the room for study purposes only;

Silence must be respected;

It is not allowed to:

Carry out group work in this space;

Leave personal objects to mark their place in this space, the Library reserves the right to remove from the desks goods left improperly;

Put books on the shelves.
